Turn a chosen value into a small action

A value is something that matters to you. A standard describes what that value asks of you in one situation. A practice is a small action you can actually observe. Moving from value to practice makes the idea usable without turning it into a pledge about your character.

For example, if accuracy matters to you, a standard might be “check an instruction before passing it on.” The practice could be “ask which version is current.” You can see whether that action happened; you do not need to score how accurate a person you are.

A pressure cue is something you notice before a usual response, such as seeing a deadline and feeling pulled to rush. Use a natural, manageable situation. Do not create pressure just to find a cue.

A practice plan names the cue or opportunity, the action, its limits, and when to stop. A seven-day window is a chance to notice an opportunity, not a requirement to make one occur. If no opportunity appears, record that rather than inventing evidence.

Asking for help, using support or an accommodation, honouring a boundary, partially completing, revising, or choosing not to continue can all provide capability evidence. Support does not make the evidence less valid. No confession, public apology, or real contact is required.

Journal minimum: Save at least one short note in a Try or Reflect box for this lesson. You do not have to answer every question. Write what you noticed, a question, or what you still do not know. If you have not tried the activity, say so. You can use the example instead of personal details. This leaves something to return to in later lessons. Saving is not sharing.
